Day 1(…): Arrival in Bujumbura, Melchior Ndadaye International Airport
Pick up, after greetings, transfer and briefing at the hotel and enjoy the beach.
Overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel.
Day 2 (…): Bujumbura to Gitega, visit the former royal site and the sacred drum sanctuary
in Gishora
After breakfast, drive to Gitega. From Bujumbura to Gishora takes about 2 hours and half
depending on the stopovers along the way, with the beautiful landscape and Tea plantation en
route to Gitega.
On arrival at Gishora, we meet the team chef of famous drummers and take a sit to attend a
fascinating show combining the sound of the drumbeat to dances, heroic poetry and traditional
songs which take around one hour. After the show we drive from Gishora to Gitega city for lunch
at Tropitel hotel; after lunch, drive to Muramvya province at Busekera Batwa village to visit
Handcrafts village where you attend a small demonstration of traditional dances, and come back
to Bujumbura at 6pm.

Day 3(…): Bujumbura city tour, Rusizi national park and transfer to Butare in Rwanda
Departure at 7:30, after breakfast, we start our trip by a boat ride in the Rusizi national park, from
Rusizi river until to Lake Tanganyika to see hippos, birds and crocodiles, visit the living museum,
drive to the memorial stone of the meeting of explorers David Livingston and Henry M. Stanley,
return downtown for lunch/Buffet. After lunch, visit the various monuments of the city including
the Independence Square (in the car), the mausoleum of the hero of independence, Prince Louis
Rwagasole, and the unity monument “Ubumwe”, and then transfer to the Butare Rwanda. Upon
arrival at Kanyaru border, you will meet our driver guide who is fluent in English and French to

transfer you to Butare for city tour. We will drive approximately 1h to reach Butare city and go to
visit some of the breathtaking areas such the Butare catholic cathedral, which offers insights on
the architecture work done during the colonial times in Rwanda, and where missionaries relocated
avoiding to frighten the local authorities in the colonial era. You will be sightseeing this kingdom
city and visit the Butare genocide memorial to learn also the darkest period Rwanda has been
passing through before you get transferred to your hotel.
Overnight: Nyanza heritage hotel
Day 4(…): King Palace and ethnographic museum, and traditional dance
After your breakfast, we will visit the king palace in Nyanza where Rwanda takes its roots and
where the famous and majestic Rwandan kings were staying. You will get that chance to enter the
king palace and learn about the royal style, the smartness and the authority of pre-colonial Rwanda.
The famous Long Horns Rwandan Cows are also in the palace backyard. Their permanent keepers
who pass the long days singing and interacting romantically with them are much styled to discover.
After this, you will then proceed with traditional dancers who will entertain you before we visit
the ethnographic museum to learn the culture of Rwanda.
Later after your lunch in Butare, we will continue our way to Karongi. It is approximately 4-5 hour
car drive from Butare.
Overnight: Rwiza village
Day 5(…): Go to respond to the calling islands in Kivu Lake
After your breakfast, you will take a boat to the Islands in Lake Kivu and start exploring the beauty
of scenery that the Lake has to offer in real life. You will hike for some minutes to the top of
Amahoro Island or Peace Island. Along your way, you will be welcomed by bats, monkeys, and
the fresh air, which will make your experience very meaningful, you will also visit the Napoleon
Island before you get back to your hotel for lunch.
Later in the evening, we walk in Karongi city and visit the local market.
Overnight: Rwiza village
Day 6 (…): Coffee plantation experience and transfer to Musanze
After you breakfast, we go for coffee plantation experience and learn about our Rwandan coffee
from field to a coffee cup before you get transferred to Musanze and stay at Tiloreza Volcanoes
Ecolodge.

Day 7(…): Gorilla trekking in Volcano National Park

After your early breakfast, preferably 6am, we will drive toward Volcano National Park
headquarters around 6,30 am for briefing and check in. The briefing is scheduled to start around
7,30 and around 8am we will start driving toward gorilla’s home. Once you meet the gorillas, you
will only stay with them one-hour taking pictures for your memory. The trek usually takes 2 upto
3 hours depending on the location of Gorillas.
Later, we will drive back to your hotel for lunch and the remaining time will be reserved to your
free time.
Overnight: Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge
Day 8(…): Golden Monkey trek and transfer to Kigali
After your breakfast, we will return to Volcano national park headquarters for briefing before you
start your trek. Around 8, you will start driving to the Golden monkey trek. The trek does take
approximately 2hours.
Around 11, you will get transferred to Kigali. It is a 2-hour car drive from Musanze to Kigali. You
will have your lunch in Kigali around 1pm and then continue with Kigali city tour while waiting
for your flight.
